Full Steam Ahead | November 24, 2015

End year and solstice are not my favorite times of the year. The saying goes that you connect to the time of year surrounding your birthday. My birthday is late December, but I prefer the light and outdoors!!! That being said, there’s so much light here at BAX in the form of performances, discussions and people. I will try to take it all in and wear its influence!

So…performances! Join me to see what three artists who have called BAX their artistic home this fall have been working on.  Jules Skloot, who some of you know as a former DPW 2 Director and others through the Ballez, is creating a new work in collaboration with Zora Tucker; Tamara Williams will share a new group work that leans into the forces of our natural world; and Taja Lindley takes us through what and how we discard inside and out! 2015 Fall Space Grant Showcase

Our students show their work alongside their teachers December 12 and 13 – from our youngest to our most advanced teens, it’s a great experience for everyone!

Also in December a group of staff and Board members will convene to share experiences that surfaced while participating in an Undoing Racism workshop and move towards discussing how BAX will make decisions in accordance with the undoing racism work which we are aligned. This meeting will be the first time that staff and Board members, along with a facilitator from the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, come together to discuss next steps.

Please keep all we do in mind when you receive our end year appeal to support us!!!  I hope you’ll be generous.
Warmest wishes, Marya
