A Summer to Thank You | June 23, 2015

Dear Friends,

Officially HAPPY SUMMER!  As I write this we are still in a whirlwind of activity, welcoming the new Space Grantees and Artists in Residence, planning for the 2015/16 year and including our 25TH ANNIVERSARY in those plans. There will be much more about this but we are creating ways to share with you 25 years of teaching, learning, creating, advocating, growing and sustaining. I will be reaching out to some of you to help us with this – to create events, to share your stories with others.

In closing, I want to thank all the people at BAX – staff, board, artists and faculty who contributed so much to make this a terrific year. Thank you to Vanessa Adato, who manages and oversees all things BAX, and is my “other”. Thank you to Sara Roer who does the scheduling and invoicing you know about but so many things you do NOT know that serve every single person who studies, rehearses or teaches here. Thank you to our extraordinary Education Department leadership Lucia Scheckner and Joie Golomb who inspire all of us to appreciate arts education every day. Thank you to Fernando Maneca and Melanie Greene who communicate all the programs of BAX to us via our website, emails, and much more than I can possibly list here! Thank you to Morgan Gould and until February Melanie Jones for all of our grant writing, strategy sessions and a part of the organization that is often quite invisible. Thank you to our Production team led by the amazing Emma Rivera from all the artists and students who perform in our theater. Thank you to the front desk staff during the day and in the evening – Rachel, Nadia, Amanda, Zack, Ann, Teri, and Helen – our indispensable greeters and jacks of all trades including after school pick up, box office and more! Thank you to our FACULTY – I could write pages and pages on our brilliant, loving, talented faculty! And lastly thank you to our Board of Directors led by Chairperson Oliver Fein with Steven Flax, Amy Sumner, Jesse Phillips-Fein, Jimena Martinez, Ellynne Skove, Leslie Weber, George Emilio Sanchez, Jane Holzka and Briana Carlson-Goodman.

See ya all soon,
